Helping Helps
New Year’s Resolution time. How about this: help someone. Just a couple of hours a week. Good for them, and surprisingly … good for us too.
Today we’re talking with Dr. Stephen G. Post. Dr. Post is professor of preventive medicine and director of the Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care, and Bioethics at Stony Brook University. He’s a leader in the study of altruism,
compassion and love and president of the Institute for Research on Unlimited Love, Dr. Post authored the widely praised Why Good Things Happen to Good People, and his newest book, The Hidden Gifts of Helping is due out in February 2011.

Amen, Doug! Great advice for starting out the new year. Volunteering also gives us another purpose to get up every morning. Happy New Year!
Hey Marsha … EXACTLY. I need to rearrange some of my priorities so that I can do things more regularly. Happy New Year to you too!
